Hello, I’m Adem Kaan, an illustrator, designer, and 2D animator. I specialize in both traditional and digital mediums, with a particular focus on character design. I love bringing humor into my work whenever I can—it’s one of my favorite things about the creative process.

I was born in England and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. I moved to Philadelphia to study, where I earned my Bachelor's in Illustration from the University of the Arts in 2016 and a Master’s in Digital Media from Drexel University in 2019.

Over the years, I’ve worked on a diverse range of projects, including 2D animations for children and adults, as well as designing pitch bibles that have been greenlit. My experience spans creating characters, backgrounds, logos, storyboards, and concept designs. Additionally, I’ve worked on 2D animated mobile game ads, developed brand guidelines for textile companies, and designed podcast covers. I’ve also had the pleasure of creating event posters and exhibiting my work at pop-culture galleries in Los Angeles.

I currently live in Philadelphia with my wonderful wife, Jess, and work as an independent artist. I also teach as an adjunct professor in the Illustration programs at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Rowan University, Drexel University, Arcadia University, and the University of the Arts.

"Adem kindly offered his services to create a pitch document for our show Punch Squad (previously titled Cloud Life)." "His artwork directly contributed to our successful pitch to Cartoon Network at the Annecy Animation Festival last year." Andrew…

“Now, with respect to Mr. Adem Kaan’s significance as an artist, he is quite simply better than the vast majority of illustrators operating in the sphere of animated content aimed at older kids. And I’m not exaggerating.

Adem has contributed artwork to our animated TV series projects at a level that very few people are able to attain. When it comes to character and environment design for cartoons aimed at the 6-12 demographic (think SpongeBob, Adventure Time and Gravity Falls), Adem is easily in the 90th percentile.

As a studio, we’re constantly developing new projects and it’s extremely difficult to find talent at Mr. Kaan’s level of creative ingenuity, comic sensibility, and overall professionalism.”
